How Can Severe Pain In The Spine Be Treated?

Hello, my name is Irina, I am 85 years old. In my childhood I lost one of my legs and from that time on walk with crutches. Several months ago I developed the spine pain. First it was not severe but later got worse. I definitely would like to avoid surgery. Could you explain how should I take medications: on the regularly basis or as needed. I am trying to walk a little. Before this issue I walk daily for couple of miles, and swam daily. I am wearing a Wight belt to support my back. Please, please, suggest me how to speed my recovery. With respect - Irina.
