How Can Severe Pain In The Upper Arms And Shoulders Be Treated?

Yes, PLEASE. I lifted some heavy boxes almost 3 weeks ago. since then I have been in absolute agony with my upper arms and shoulders. feels like they get frozen . I m not usually a whiner or hyper sensitive to pain, but I am hurting so much its making involuntary tears run down my face. I have been using OTC crème to rub on them, taking a pain med called tramadol but no relief. Ice packs, after initially using heating pad... OMG!!! help, please. took so much aspirin at first that it seemed to make it worse. now what??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

All you need to do is to consult orthpedic surgeon to get it examined and x-ray Shoulder (AP & lateral view) done.
Should joint is vulnerable to dislocation in such type of activity, however confirmation is required by proper examination.

Till then for pain relief you can use diclofenac + chlorzoxazone tablet twice daily.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr. Hiren
