Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Severe Pain On The Left Side Of The Ribcage Be Treated?
I fell down the stairs the other day, sprained my wrists and fractured a small bone in my hand. When I was at the ER I had no rib pain at all, since then I have rib pain on both sides and an extremely sharp pain on my left side. There is no bruising, but it s the sharpest pain ever.
It is nothing but a minor contusion and fracture is very unlikely. You can take analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain relief. Apply ice packs for faster recovery.
Generally, the symptoms will subside in a couple of days and in case of persistent symptoms you can consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
