What Is Left Abdominal Pain Post Recovery From Stomach Flu Suggestive Of?

I ve been very sick for almost three weeks. Started out like a stomach virus with nausea and vomiting. Had an ER visit one week ago, dehydrated, uncontrollable vomiting and moderate to severe pain on my left side just under my ribcage. The vomiting was stopped by meds and fluid from the ER visit, but , I am still having the moderate to severe pain on my left side.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the vomiting was severe, with retching involved, then it is possible that may be due to strain of the muscles in the area. If the pain is worse with certain movements, then this is a possible cause and the use of anti-inflammatory pain medication would help. e.g. naproxen or ibuprofen or Cataflam - these meds, if you decide to use one, it should be after you have eaten or had something to drink.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
