How Can Severe Sciatic Pain In The Legs Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with Sciatica a pinched nerve almost two weeks ago, given 800 milligram Ibuprofen, a short supply of Norco (I seldom if ever take pain meds, high pain threshold). the continuing pain in my right leg is extreme and very debilitating, throbbing when I try to sleep and I can t stand or walk for too long. I am concerned there might be something else going on. My back feels much better, but the leg pain is too much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and would like to tell you that sciatica is a radiating pain in the legs due to nerve compression. First of all your condition has to assessed by an MRI spine. Conservative measure s of treatment are. 1. Pregablin or Gabapentin for radiating pain. 2. Painkiller s like aceclofenac or naproxen. 3. Physical therapy under a good chiropractor. 4. Applying cold packs or hot fomentation . If All these measures fail then you have to consult a neurosurgeon for surgical procedure. Avoid lifting heavy weight and bending
I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
