Hi, I am a 57 year old female and have been battling a skin problem for several years now. It started with peeling on several of my fingertips. I saw a dermatologist for the issue and used cortisone cream for about 9 months before undergoing patch testing. The patch testing pinpointed the problem - allergy to Methylisothiazolinone. I now read labels and use products without the preservative, but the peeling has continued and spread to additional fingers. My fingertips have become hard and split from the inside out. I feel the split coming on before it occurs. My fingertips on both hands are now a darker pigment than the rest of my hands. I am totally frustrated because the cortisone cream I not clearing it up and I told it thins the skin so only use every other week.
