Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis and was all set to receive an epidural on my spine when the Dr. saw that 11 years ago I had a mild reaction to Lidocaine, which she uses in her epidural procedure. She stopped and will not give epidural without allergy drug test by MD Allergist. I am in a lot of pain on daily basis. scheduled an appt with allergy Md and found out I can t even get an allergy drug test until April of 2018. It is Dec.2017 now;I can not wait that long, considering my pain level now.The allergist said I would have to be off my meds 7 days prior to allergy test and the other spine Dr wants him to also check another drug called marcaine...? which would even make it days longer away from epidural because they have to be tested on different days. My family physician has taken the Lidocaine off my listof drug problems but the spine specialist would not accept my Dr.statement, What can I do to get spinal pain relief? Or convince spine specialist to go ahead with epidural procedure asap? y

As far as my clinical experience is concerned, the severity of pain mandates need of intervention in terms of minimally invasive surgery to correct the underlying spinal stenosis.
Wish you best of luck for all future procedures and treatment.
Do give me further chance to assist in future.
Thank you.
