How Can Severe Stenosis In The Lower Spine Be Treated?

I have severe stenosis in my lower spine and have had fusion at L2-3 and a procedure at L4-5 (Coplay?). My severe pain now is in the sciatic area and the orthopedist and pain clinic doc say it is the nerve root and plan a duramorph steroid caudal injection. What if this doesn t relieve the pain? What more can they do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, hopefully the injection will relieve the pain but since you asked other options just in case if it failed then other possibilities are mostly surgical including spine surgeries to relieve fusion or every vertebral replacement or adjustment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
