Hi,
In many instances what I have noted in my practice is tinnitus in itself is not a disease it's just a sign of some underlying cause. The cause may be in your middle ear,
central nervous system etc. Naproxen can be addictive. Now when the oral medication fails to treat it there are other wide range of options available for it. Let me share you a few things which can bring down your tinnitus and I will give a brief about advanced treatment options of tinnitus as well.
Few things which you can try:
1) Using a white noise machine which can mask it.
2) For many of our patients
Amitriptyline, a
tricyclic antidepressant worked like a charm.
3) Three things you should avoid before going to the food they are:
-Food (you should take it 2 hours before food.)
- Strenuous activity.
- Alcohol.
4) Eradicate excess built up of ear wax.
5)
Meditation.
If all the above-mentioned method fails, You may need
invasive procedures like
deep brain stimulation,
stereotactic radiosurgery or surgical ablation of the cochlea. You need to consult with an Otolaryngologist for this, he will be able to choose the right procedure for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Moses John Wesley,
