Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a severe toothache on the left side on my teeth in the back (wisdom). Im also experiencing pain/numbness on the left side of my arm; i take it its coming from the toothache? will salt and water bring down the pain any just until i go to the dentist tomorrow
It looks like you have Pericoronitis that is inflammation of the gum flap over the wisdom tooth.. It is the most common cause of pain related to wisdom tooth. Numbness in arm is not related to your wisdom tooth and it is probably some other cause that you should get evaluated.. For pain in wisdom tooth consult an Oral Physician and get.. You will be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. Apply Lidocaine gel over the gum flap, do cool compresses over the cheek and do warm saline gargles.. You should also do antiseptic mouthwash gargles.. In case if the pain and swelling keeps coming back then either removal of gum flap or removal of wisdom tooth can provide permanent relief..
Hope this helps..
Regards .
