How Can Shortness Of Breath Be Treated When Diagnosed With COPD And On Inhalers?

My doctor said I have COPD and have me on an inhaler but I still have a lot of shortness of breath, no energy if I do any work I don t have a cough or mucus. I don t have a lot of burping could it be something else. I do take an acid reflux pill everyday 40 mg

Hi, sorry for your symptoms, COPD is a very annoying illness and consists is an irreversible damage of the lungs.

You have to know that he most important intervention is to stop smoking.

Treatment is very complex and it depends to every case. Inhalers could be of short or/and long action sucha as beta agonists (albuterol, terbutalin), ipatropium, tiotropium, inhaled steroids (fluticasone budesonide).
There are oral drugs like theophylline, steroids, roflumilast and there are some other less effective medicaments.
Supplemental oxygen is a effective treatment too.

Very often happen that a patient uses various drugs, so if you still have shortness of breath combinations of drugs or a higher dose could help you.
