How Can Shortness Of Breath Caused By Stiff Valves In The Heart Be Treated?

I have stiff valves in my hearts causing shortness of breathe. I was prescribed carvedilol 6.5 mg 2x a day however it makes me so sick. Is there an alternative herb? I have a pylori ulcer and take Omeprazole and Amor thyroid. I am 68 years old and have been in great health. I am very active and love to hike however my shortness of breathe is limiting my live style.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Carvedilol doesn't seem to work in your case as it is causing bradycardia and also interfering with the respiratory airways. If you are maintaining good health you can go for valve repair or replacement surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rehana Kousar
