How Can Shortness Of Breath Due To Asthma Be Treated?
my mom is increasingly getting short of breath . she has been having asthma problems with a bronchial cough. they cannot put her on antibiotics because she just now getting over c-diff. her oxygen level is 95 but she is still short of breath got any suggestions on why
Asthma can cause shortness of breath so if she has uncontrolled asthma, this would cause cause the shortness of breath that she is experiencing.
She may need to have her medication altered to improve control. In addition she may need a course of steroids as well to reduce the inflammation in the chest.
Asthma control medications normally include a inhaled steroid along with medication to open the airway. Some persons require additional asthma medications, this may be the case for your mother.
In addition, a cardiologist, to make sure that the shortness of breath is not related to the heart.
She should be seen by a pulmonologist (doctor who assesses the lungs) and a cardiologist (doctor who assesses the heart).
I hope this helps
