Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has been having silent seizures since our car accident in April 2016. He s been unable to play due to the number of seizures he was having. He is given keppra 500mg 2x day & depakota 750 2x day. How can we stop his seizures so he can at least play like a 9 year old? Open to suggestions because no one seems to know.
Sorry to hear of his disease. In fact, it's always very difficult to predict when will seizures stop and it's difficult to treat seizures if there is no cause.
However, if someone is seizures free for 2 years and there is no abnormality on the scan, then we can gradually reduce the drugs to give a trial. However, if he develops seizures again after reducing the drug then probably we need to continue the drugs.
However, people whose seizures are controlled well with drugs can have normal activities of life.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
General & Family Physician
