How Can Sinus Tachycardia Caused By Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

Hi my name is Randy am a male 63 years old. 163 lbs. 5ft. 10 inches tall. Don t smoke seldom drink anything but green tea or water. I have sinus tachycardia mostly driven from anxiety. Is there a way to lower my heart rate without drugs. This morning at 11:30 my blood pressured measured 118/81 with a heart rate of 93. If I walk it will go up to about 116 bpm. Most of the time just sitting it will be around 103-106. I have recently (the beginning of July) stopped taking metropolol 50 mg per day. I reduced the dosage slowly to 25 mg per day then in the month of July none. That s when my heart rated started to increase.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Considering the clinical scenario you have mentioned,if I were your treating doctor,i would recommend,
-first ruling out cardiovascular risk conditions by doing ECG,blood lipids, blood glucose
- controlling anxiety with mind relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, breathing exercises
-balanced diet including lots of fruits, vegetables, dairy products.
-adequate rest and regular 8 hours of sleep
-if still symptoms persist ,management by drug like metoprolol under physician's supervision becomes necesssary.
I would like to ask you did you reduce the dose of metoprolol without physician consultation?since metoprolol weaning can cause reflux tachycardia and withdrawal should be done under expert supervision.
Hope this information helps.
Do ask further if you have any more query.
Thanks and regards.
