How Can Sinusitis Along With Bronchitis Be Treated?

For possible sinus infection/bronchitis, I was prescribed a 4 mg PAK of Methylprednisolone and Doxycycline Hyclate. I just saw the warnings for Methylprednisolone and fungal infections. I have toe nail fungus and athletes foot. It is Saturday night. 1). I have already taken the first day of the Methpred PAK. Should I be concerned with taking more? 2) What are the risks of taking the Methpred with the toe/nail fungus.? i.e, do they each get worse or does the fungal spread to other parts of the body? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Steroids have many side effects, one of which is immuno-suppression by which it predisposes us to fungal infections that occur or spread. Therefore, it is likely, as you mentioned that you have sinusitis and bronchitis.

On the other hand, it reduces the inflammation and improves this condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
