Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i believe i have sinusitis should i be taking tylenol, advil or maybe ipbrofin until i can see my doctor Monday? My nose and head really hurt. im currently using NeilMed NasoGel for dry noses (will that increase my blood pressure). Thank you Bianca
It should not have an effect on your blood pressure because it does not contain a decongestant. Traditional oral decongestants such as pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine can temporarily affect your blood pressure.
A topical decongestant such as Otrivine would have little effect on blood pressure, and normal saline should have no effect. A warm (not hot) compress to the face would help to encourage drainage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
