How Can Sinusitis Be Treated?

Hi, I am being treated for a sinus infection that started 5 days ago and seems more difficult to get rid of. I started on Amoxicillin 500 MG yesterday afternoon. I have also been taking Mucinex and using Extra Strength Tylenol because of sinus pain and fever (ranged from 99 to 101). My upper sinuses are still irritated. My main question ...I use a netipot for saline rinses on a regular basis and also take Loratadine 10mg one a day. Am I drying out my nasal passages too much. Winds in S CA are also a factor right now & co-workers sick with similar ailments. I don t have allergies.....am 67 year old healthy woman who still works full time Amy other tratement to heal my sinuses and get rid of 99.2 that I have this afternoon after rest.

Hi,

Sinusitis can be severe and can take a few days to resolve. So you need to relax as you have just started taking medicine and it can take around a few weeks for the symptoms to resolve.

You should continue taking Amoxicillin and other medicines that you are taking. Along with it do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. Do warm compresses around the nose to ease the drainage.

Avoid spicy and chilled foods. Drink plenty of water and preferably warm water.
