How Can Sinusitis Be Treated?

I was prescribed Augmenton for 10 days for sinusitis but i got worse. Was then prescribed Zpac for 5 days. Finished it yesterday but today have lots of thick yellow mucous still draining out. Do I need a different prescription. Like amoxicillin which I’ve had in the past?

Hello,

Actually, the medicine which you have taken itself is Amoxicillin plus clavulanate only.

My suggestion is you can do steam therapy. As you have finished the antibiotic course just now, it is not advisable to take another course of antibiotic immediately.

Draining out of mucus is actually good. If you have headache you can take tablet Paracetamol 650 mg TDS (thrice daily). For next course, its preferable to take tablet Mahacef-CV 200 mg BD (twice daily) for 5 days.

If still you have same inconvenience, consult an ENT surgeon.
