I have moderate kidney disease so my kidney dr. doesn t want me taking ibuprofen which helps better than Tylenol. My primary just prescribed 50 mg of Tramadol. After reading the drug facts should I be taking this. My primary dr. know my history.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Infact, if you have kidney problem , your doc is very right you should avoid Ibrufen ( and all NSAIDS) for pain relief. If Tylenol do not work for you Opiod are safe for the kidney. However, it is slightly increase the risk of seizures so that would be a bit concern. So, if your seizures are well controlled you can use it with caution with minimum dose if really needed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
