How Can Slurred Speech Be Treated?

My husband has been having slurred speech lately when he is extremely tired. He is on several medications--- for his diabetes and for the neuropathy in his feet. He claims he s just tired. he is also a recovering alcoholic and this is always the first thing I think of. He claims, however, that he has not been drinking. Any advice?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Slurred speech may be due to brain stroke or cranial nerve palsy or articulation problems or sleep apnea etc
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.
Please consult your ENT/ neurophysician specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
