How Can Small Red Blisters On The Elbow Be Treated?

Hello, I m sorry to bother you but I have a question. A couple of weeks ago I took a really hard fall. I managed to scratch my elbow up pretty good. Last week I felt some pain and found now there are like two red clear fluid blisters on that scar. Do I need to be alarmed? Thank you Jana

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Thank you for your query, It may be that the scars in your elbow have been infected because of scratching. You should clean the area with a betadine once a day and apply a topical antibiotic such as Mupirocin 3x a day for 7 days. No, you don't have to be alarmed for as long as you clean the affected area everyday and the area does not swell severely. If you experience fever this indicates a systemic infection(meaning bacteria has entered your blood stream and causing an infection), You may need some oral antibiotics. I hope this helps!
