Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why three drugs have been prescribed for sneezing of nose and cold? Which one is antibiotic? Chlorpheniramine maleate tablet 4 mg Bromhexine hcl tablet 8 mg, Lysozyme chloride tablet 30 mg I took one tablet each n I find tonsillitis occuring? Which medicine caused it? And should I discontinue that?
Well, sneezing and cold are due to viral infection and are signs of common cold..
As the viral infection resolves after the virus completes its cycle in human body , so commonly symptomatic treatment is given to the individual..
Antibiotics are not advised in viral infection because they can fight bacterial infection not viral.
In your case also appropriate medications are advised for which Chlorpheniramine Maleate is helpful in reducing sneezing and coughing, bromohexine is a mucolytic while lysozyme helps in reducing inflammation and is anti bacterial in action..
So continue taking the same and along with it take Ibuprofen to reduce pain due to Tonsillitis, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations.. Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Tonsillitis is not due to the medication but due to the infection that is already prevalent..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
