How Can Sneezing And Nasal Congestion In A Child Be Treated?

I have a 9 year old daughter that has been on allergy medicine consistently for the past 2 years. She had tubes placed in her ears a year and a half ago, one has fallen out since then. She still struggles daily with sneezing, itchy, runny nose, and nasal congestion. My pediatrician has recommended that we also start her on Flonase. I m just wondering if all of these medications will have any lasting side effects? She s already starting to go through puberty, but no menses cycle yet.

Hello,

As a first line management, you can try saline nasal drops for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a pediatrician and start antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain,
