How Can Sore Throat And An Ulcer On The Tongue Be Treated?

Hi, I’ve been sick with a cold for roughly two weeks and naturally my throat has been sore. Now that I’m finally recovering from my cold my throat is still sore, the pain is concentrated around one tonsil to the back of my tongue. I’ve also recently felt a small bump appear at the base of my tongue. Is this serious?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Sore throat in your case is appearing to be due to viral infection as you already have cold that is due to viral infection..

Throat infection is commonly seen to cause inflammation inside the oral cavity and there can be eruption of ulcers or canker sores in mouth..

So a bump at the base of tongue can be due to infection and nothing serious..

So my suggestion is to do warm saline gargles, apply Chlorohexidine gel over the bump and if it is painful apply Lidocaine gel for relief..
As the infection will subside the bump will also regress..

If it worsen consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
