Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am dealing with a cold that is agonizing and not getting better. It began with 3 days of terrible sore throat and now a cough that feels like I am getting punched in the throat every time. I can t breathe deeply or yawn. I am so dehydrated and I have been having fluids nonstop. What can I do to ease the pain of these symptoms? Please help.
Need not to worry much. I would suggest you do warm saline gargles on a daily basis and take steam inhalation as well. You should visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check the exact level of infection.
You need inhaled bronchodilators and an antihistamine drug. You should get x-ray chest done as well. You should take cough expectorants as well. You should use mist humidifiers in the room.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
