Hello user,
I read your query.
As per the information provided, you are in the first trimester of
pregnancy.
Sore throat is an inflammation of the throat that s painful. It may lead to
redness of the throat and in long standing cases, may lead to breathing difficulty and trouble in swallowing.
But rest assured , you are not the only one suffering from sore throat. And because of its commoness, you dont need toworry about it as well. It is no different than the soreness of throat experienced in non pregnant state.
Now, there may be a variety of causes that lead to it and treatment follows the cause.
1.Acid reflux-you need to take antacids for this
2. Asthma- you need to take certain beta agonist for this.Plaese contact your physician and resist from taking over the counter medication
3.Bacterial or fungal infection- You may need
fexofenadine or levocetrizine in combiation with Monteklukast
4. Viral infections, though, are the most common cause andin many cases , are self resolving.
As far as the treatment goes, i would suggest you to first try some
home remedies.
1. Try hot water-salt gargle
2. Hot water mixed with honey and lemon to soothe the throat
If the throat is hurting , you can continue with
Benadryl cough syrup after consultation with your physicain . You can very well try acetaphinomen(pain killer/
analgesic) as it will help you in getting rid of headache as well.
If symptoms perists beyond 24-48 hours , do contact your physcian .
Thanking you for your query,
Hope this helps.
