Am havng sore throat with deep cough n yellowish phelmn with slight fever. For which i took cetrizine and zerodol xp for a day. Now hvng crocin advance with cetrizine and planning to switch over to Cheston cold. So pls advise. Am in an interior part so all medicines not easily available. Thank you
Your symptoms can be due to viral infection with a superseded bacterial infection. Cheston cold can help but in case if there is bacterial infection, you might also need antibiotics.
So, first of all you should get a sputum culture and a chest x ray done to rule out the exact nature of infection.
If there is bacterial infection you can be advised antibiotics like Cephalexin, Augmentin et cetera. Along with it, you can be advised a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol and along with it antihistamine like Levocetirizine.
Also, doing warm compresses on chest, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
