How Can Sore Throat And Painful Lump In The Neck Be Treated?

I had a sore throat for about a week, i used paracetamol to ease the pain and it almost went away. Now i have excruciating pain on the left side of my throat that spreads to my ear and I feel a painful lump in my neck just below the pain. This has been going on for four days now where it is so painful that i can t even swallow water. Im hungry and in pain. What do you think can help? Also, i smoke so that might not be a good idea

Hello,

I think you got an ear infection. Should check by your physician or ENT specialist. You might need prescription medications.

For the moment, just continue taking paracetamol, gargle with warm water and salt; use an oral antiseptic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
