Hello,
Thanks for query.
I have gone through your description and i can understand your concerns.

The symptoms you have described suggest the possibility of pharyngitis(inflammation of your throat). He does not need emergency care.
There is no need to worry regarding this as it can be cured completely with proper treatment.
I have seen many similar cases during my practice. I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:-
1.You can continue the acetaminophen for fever and pain. Tepid sponging with tap water can also help to decrease the body temperature.
2.Antibiotic therapy is mandatory. He might need a short course of antibiotics like amoxicillin thrice a day for five to seven days.
3.Expectorant cough syrups can be given to clear mucus and secretions.
4.Do warm saline gargles or gargling with a numbing mouth wash.
5.Antihistamines like levocetrizine can be given for symptomatic relief.

Most cases will become better with above treatment protocol,if symptoms persist despite all these he may require a throat swab to find out the exact pathogen causing the illness.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
