Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Soreness And Stiffness In The Arms And Shoulder Be Treated?
I have soreness, stiffness in arm shoulder and neck. I was prescribed prednisone 5mg and tizanidine hcl 4 mg. after being given X-ray which showed arthritis by my doctor. I am hesitant about taking prednisone with side effects listed. Is this good choice to treat this condition or are there other choices.
I understand your concern. Prednisone is the proper treatment to relieve pain in arthritis. Anyway you can try with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Naproxen or Ibuprofen first and see if they relieve the pain. Some other advice that I can give you are:
1) Lose weight.
2) Exercise.
3) Use hot and cold therapy.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other questions, Ill be glad to help.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
