How Can Soreness In The Tongue Be Treated?

I am having an allergic reaction to fluoride, it started after having my teeth cleaned and has continued until I discovered it was the fluoride in my toothpaste that kept it going. I have since switched to a fluoride free toothpaste (Tom's), but my tongue is still really sore. Someone told me about a magic mouthwash that was part Benadryl and part Maalox that might help. Any ideas?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Soreness of the tongue also known as Glossitis that is occurring due allergy to Fluoride but is not yet healed completely can be due to continuous irritation to the tongue with certain foods and other chemicals present in toothpaste..

You can consult an Oral Physician and get advised for hypoallergic medicated toothpastes..
Also to relieve the symptoms faster you can start taking Vitamin B complex and folic acid supplements.
Do cool compresses over tongue or it will be better to suck ice pops or do cool water rinses..
Avoid spicy and acidic foods..

If you do not find relief even after all this then it will be better to consult a Dentist and get evaluated to rule out other possible causes of the soreness..

Hope you get well soon..

Regards.
