How Can Speech Impairment Caused By A TIA Be Treated?

I have had trouble with my speech for over a year - resulting from what doctors now say was probably a TIA. My tongue sticks out to the right side when I expose it. My articulation is not bad - s sound is difficult. I have every test imaginable by a nerologist @ Duke. Does the cranial nerve that controls my tongue (if damaged) repair itself over time? Thanks, David

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The speech impairment here indicates definite underlying nerve conduction issue at speech pathway.
* I would like to evaluate the case with all reports as attachment, till that time, I suggest to consult an expert speech therapist.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
