Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had spinal fusion surgery 12years ago on lower lumbar 3_4 and 4_5. Now I have another disc bulging at the 2_3 level. Doctor said that I need to fuse that . Could I get disc replacement surgery instead so I can maintain my range of motion I still have left? I am a 52 year old male and a stone Mason all my life.
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that disc replacement can be tried, considering your past surgery.
But, I would first recommend steroid injections for the pain control before going into a second surgery.
You should discuss with your spinal surgeon on this issue.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
