How Can Stiffness In The Neck And Shoulder After Head Injury Be Treated?

I took a fall on my steps which knocked the wind out of me and caused pain in my tailbone making it quite painful and stiff to sit. This was 5 days ago. I hit the lower back of my head as well and am getting an increased stiffness in my neck and right shoulder. Should I wait it out or see a doctor?

Hi,

Your symptoms sound quite normal to me, and I would recommend just using pain medication and taking time if you can tolerate it. The only thing I can think of that a doctor could do is prescribe a muscle relaxer like Cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasms, but if the pain is tolerable on Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen, you should be fine.

At this point doing any X-rays or scans would not be necessary. You can return to activity as your pain reduces. Only if the pain is not improving in the next week or two then I would consider seeing a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
