Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Stomach Ache And Diarrhea In A Child Be Treated?
My 9 years daughter has had vomiting and watery diarrhea. She has stomach pain before either happens. She's hasn't eaten in almost a full day (5 blueberries and gatorade). Vomitting stopped today but stomach pain persists and as does the runny diarrhea.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, your daughter is having symptoms of stomach ache and Diarrhea which seem to be due to an electrolyte imbalance in the body leading to food poisoning/ acute gastroenteritis.
I would suggest giving her banana on daily basis and light food. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate yourself and avoid giving any sharp and spicy food. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined.
You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination. You should give Ibuprofen to the child along with proton pump inhibitors as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
