How Can Stomach Cramps Be Treated?

I have been prescribed clindamycin 150 Mg. by my dentist, because he started a route canal, but it won't be completed until a week from now. I have taken 3 capsules and now have stomach cramps and feel like I will soon have diareherra. I and allergic to penicillin and sulfa drugs. Is there any other antibiotic I can take?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. ADR [adverse drug reaction] of clindamycin itself is DIARRHEA along with other exhaustive lists, and since it is a prescription drug so even if seeking for any other safer alternative consult your attending dentist or a Medicine specialist.

PS. This drug has a black box warning issued by FDA which alerts doctor/patient about the drug effects that may be dangerous: as it causes clostridium difficile associated diarrhea [which can cause mild diarrhea or severe inflammation of your colon]

2. The American Heart Association guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis has given two alternatives to clindamycin: azithromycin and clarithromycin [both in 500 mg] single dose but you shouldn't take them without first consulting with your doctor.
