1. hopefully it is a minor
stomach infection but always be alert, as
dehydration can occur very rapidly and may require intravenous fluids.
2. do not take iron-containing drugs as they can cause
diarrhea itself.
3. keep a watch on signs of dehydration- low blood pressure, high
heart rate, sunken eyeballs, loss of skin turgor and thirst.
4. Ornof [ofloxacin] is used in bacterial infection and since nausea/diarrhea are common side effect of the drug thus ask your
primary care physician to kindly change the drug, and any different drug prescribed has to be taken for a minimum of 5 days
5. If vomiting is mild take tablet perinorm 10 mg [metocloprramide]: 1 tablet thrice daily and chew cardamom, ginger, lime or crushed ice
6. Avoid oily foods, chilies, ghee and milk, refined flour, beans, cucumber, curd, peas, jackfruit, pumpkin and take old brown rice, porridge [without milk], pomegranate, banana, rice gruel, bottle gourd, honey, cumin, coriander
