How Can Stomach Infection In A Child Be Treated?

My three yr. old grandson had a flu like symptoms and threw up several days in a row. He now shows no interest in eating. He is taking liquids and is hydrated; he also has had bowel movements. His parents just told me that his tummy has been bloated for the last 2 days and his hands are very cold. The bloating and not eating is my big concern. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi,

I can understand your concern. As per your query about bloating and lack of interest in eating after having an stomach infection can be anorexia or worm infestation. I suggest you to give him probiotics like bifilac or natural probiotic like yoghurt in food. Multivitamin supplements in syrup form will increase the appetite. Consult the pediatrician if there is vomiting and loose motion again. Deworming medications may be prescribed like albendazole.

I hope the information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Dr. Jyoti Pandey
