Hi there, I have a 10 yr old child who has the stomach bug, I his dad had it Friday night into Saturday morning, was wondering what I can give him to help him, does children s basic medicine work, should he drink anything, when I had it, I woke up what seemed to be every hour because I was thirsty and drank cold water, does that even help. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Is he suffering from Diarrhea? Is he suffering from blood or mucus in stools? How frequently is he passing stools?

If yes, then give him plenty of Oral rehydration solution (ORS) liquids and use a soft diet. Avoid cold drinks and freeze water.

If you observe signs of dehydration, then consult your pediatrician so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
