Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAD PAROTIDECTOMY 8 DAYS AGO. THE INCISION IN HEALING GREAT BUT FLUID IS BUILDING UP UNDER THE FLAP. IT IS not infected but it is sore, the skin is stretch outward now and I am afraid it will break open my incision or cause other problems. Will ice help this or do I need to go back tot he doctor to have the fluid removed. Because of the holiday the office has been closed.
Incision leads to inflammation in that area, and so slight serous discharge can occur. If pus yellow colored coming out, then it is a matter of worry and concluded that wound infected otherwise not much problem. Post-procedure complete the prescribed antibiotic course and nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug. If swelling continuously going to be increased then consult your doctor for examination. If you post a photo of an affected part than also more comment can be given
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
