How Can Swelling And Infection Along The Cheeks And Gums Be Treated?

Hello,

I burned my cheek gum and tongue because of lime. It's been two days and one night. My right cheek is swollen and it's infected along my cheek-gum valley (bottom and top)... Now my sublingual gland hurts on right side. What do I do?

Thank you very much.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like due to burning with lime there has been inflammation of the mucosa leading to swelling and pain..

There is also a possibility that there is infection of the burnt mucosa causing increased swelling and pain..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get it checked, so that if there is infection it can be treated with oral and topical antibiotics..

For now you can start taking anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation..
You should apply Lidocaine gel over the burnt area to reduce pain..
Do cool compresses and cold water rinses..
You should take soft meals and avoid spicy and irritant foods..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
