How Can Swelling And Inflammation On The Forearm Be Treated?
Someone injected me with meth Sunday night and I think the shot was missed. My forearm is swollen, red and warm go touch. My pharmacist gave me some Cipro and I m on the third dose. I ve been using a hearing pad alternating with Epsom salt cool soaks. Am I looking at an abscess?
Redness, Pain and swelling after meth injection is a cause of concern. You may have developrd cellulitis (infection of skin), Thrombophlebitis (infection of veins ) and if you think the shot was missed thrombosis of areteries can occur.Arteial thrombus lead to cut off of blood supply to the arm resulting in pain, swelling, redness, cyanosis followed by loss of sensation /function if arm. Taking ciprofloxacin without consulting a doctor is not adequate. It is not the drug of choice here.
All these coditions have dangerous consequences.I recommend that you immediately go to the emergency room. Use of methamphetamine have serious effects on health and is addicting. I suggest you seek help of your doctor and work together with him/her to get off drug use
Hope I was able to answer your question Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
