Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Swelling And Pain In The Ankle Be Treated?
I have had a foot ex-ray and I was told by a podiatrist that I have Lower Femoral Tendinitis. Is there any type of physical therapy for this. He did not indicate any. Some times with the swelling in the ankle and foot , it becomes stiff and painful to bend.
Usually tendinitis occurs due to over use of the muscle. Occasionally, trauma, viral or bacterial infection can also cause tendinitis. Rest to the ankle and the foot is the main treatment. This will allow the injured and inflamed tendon to resolve and get back to normal condition. Infra red therapy twice a day 15 minutes each time for 7 to 10 days would help. In case of bacterial infection, the Podiatrist would prescribe you an appropriate antibiotic. Usually it takes a minimum of 10 to 15 days for the tendon to be normal and you getting back to normal physical activity.
