How Can Swelling And Pain In The Ankles Be Treated?
Yesterday I fell from a ladder sliding out from underneath me. About 9 feet, my leg went through the rung of the aluminum ladder pinning my shin under the ladder which I fell on. Ripped the skin down my shin. Very badly bruised from middle of shin down to ankle and toes, Swollen also, and I had a total knee done on this leg 5 years ago. I have been using heat and ice. And wrapped with ace bandage to while I was walking on it. But I removed ace bandage, lots of pain and swelling and can hardly walk in it. Any ideas? I am 53 yrs old, good health.
I recommend to follow up with the urgent care to get a Xray of leg done to rule out underlying fractures. You can apply ice on the area of pain. Take rest Use Advil 600 mg 4 times a day to help with pain. Other than fracture possible underlying muscle injury leading to increased pressure within leg compartment is also a concern. So please be advised to follow up with the urgent care.
Hope this answers your questions Please address further questions here Regards Dr.Lekshmi
