How Can Swelling And Pain In The Finger After A Thorn Prick Be Treated?
I had a thorn from a rose bush go into the top of my finger yesterday. The whole thorn came out. I forgot about it till after work that night, when I started getting pain. I woke from the pain several times last night and today my finger is swollen, red and painfull to move or touch. I am a chef, it s my index finger (wich i need to use a knife). So I have had to use it and it has now started purple. Is there anything I can do to fix swelling and pain?
Hello, Thank you for your query. Your symptoms indicate an infection.
I recommend : -washing the area with soap water, pat it dry. Keep the hand elevated. Avoid repeated exposure to water/moisture -a physician consult to remove any retained thorn and pus is necessary. -keep your hand elevated above heart level to prevent swelling. -apply local antibiotic ointment if you have any. -anti inflammatory medications like ibuprofen can help with the pain
I urge you seek medical attention asap. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health
