Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3 year old daughter was at a friend s bday party, a jumping zone place. She came to me in tears saying she hurt her foot after sliding down the slide. It us swolen on the top of her foot and is complaining it hurts. It has now been 3 hours later or more and I m wondering if this is normal. Now I m getting worried. We did ice it a few times already.
You can try to give her ibuprofen orally to help with pain and swelling and lift up her leg and encourage her to rest her foot so to help with the pain and the swelling.
If the foot is swollen it is best to be examined by a doctor to see if there is limitation in function as well and if there is a chance for any ligament to be damaged or even rule out possible fracture. After examining her foot the doctor will know if there is a need for an x-ray or not.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
