How Can Swelling And Pain In The Right Foot Be Treated?

have injured my right foot.....since since yesterday my right foot has begun swelling and the pain has increased approx. 50 percent. my foot has swelled to twice the size of my left foot with one deep purple bruse on the right side of the foot and extensive swelling on the top of the foot with discoloration. should I seek medical advice at the local hospital or is this just an injury that must heal itself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Thanks for using HealthcareMagic
Swelling and pain are expected to worsen up to day 2 after an initial injury to either soft tissue (including ligaments) or bone.
Because it is not possible to predict if your injury is to the bone or ligament (also have varying degrees of severity) or other soft tissue, it would be best to be seen by your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps.

Regards
