How Can Swelling And Pain In The Thumb Be Treated?

good evening Dr., I try to make it to A CVS minute clinic, however the last patient was already excepted. I believe I have a infection in my thumb, it is swollen, driving and painful to the touch. It is also causing me a low-grade fever. I was suggested to take Benadryl, but wanted to see if there are other suggestions to take before I am able to go back in the morning. Thank you so much for your time!

Hello,

This sounds like an infection. Check your nail root to rule out any possible infection. Start antibiotics Amoxyclav along with Diclofenac-Serratiopeptidase combination for the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
