How Can Swelling And Pain On The Feet Be Treated?

We believe my 20 year daughter hurt her foot while ice skating two days ago. She was fine when she went to bed. Woke up next morning could not put weight on her foot and swollen. It s her right foot and the pain is on the side and top of foot. She has had an X-ray. Nothing showed as broken. Was told by er doctor that it could be planter fisciitis. She has an appointment to follow up with orthopedic dr in two days but she is in severe pain. It hurts just to lift her foot from her pillow! Ibuprofen is not helping.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think, she should keep her foot in rest with ice pack for 24 to 48 hours. Later, she can use warm water.

Keep leg elevated to reduce edema. Ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories can help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
